Dollar General Drops Kenseth

Cambridge, Wis. — Cambridge native Matt Kenseth and Joe Gibbs Racing will be looking for a new primary sponsor after Dollar General announced it would be dropping its partnership following the 2016 season.

“Our strategy to reallocate our future marketing assets into new programs is strictly a business decision to align our priorities to better serve our customer in this rapidly changing retail environment.”

In Kenseth’s first year with JGR, he finished second in the Sprint Cup standings, only to fall to seventh in 2014, 15th in 2015 and race to a 12th place standing so far in 2016.
Dollar General had increased its sponsorship of Kenseth considerably since joinging JGR in 2013. They sponsored 17 races that year, which increased to 30 each of the past two seasons. There are no immediate plans for Dollar General to sponsor another vehicle in the future.
