The 25-year-old was accused of hitting his girlfriend at a Madison hotel in February, and then just a month later another woman said Ball threw a phone at her and grabbed her neck.
Ball pled guilty to two counts of disorderly conduct and one count of battery. The judge ordered him to serve two 30-day sentences consecutively and he’ll also be on probation for 18 months. Ball will have work release privileges during his jail term.
The 2012 Doak Walker Award winner for best running back in the nation, Ball was taken in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos. He lasted just two seasons before being cut. He spent the final few weeks of the 2015 season on the New England Patriots practice squad, but they released him just four days after being arrested in February.

MADISON, Wis. — The Madison Police Department released the incident report regarding former University of Wisconsin runnig back Montee Ball, charged with substantial battery on Feb. 5, 2016.
The report indicates Ball was on State St. the night of Feb. 4 with some friends and intended to spend the night with the friends and some females unknown to Ball’s girlfriend, Layci Petrakis. Petrakis did not approve of Ball’s plans for the night, so she intended to pick him up and drive him to the Hampton Inn and Suites where she was staying for the night. Ball refused and she left back to the hotel.
Hours later, Ball reportedly came back to Petrakis’ hotel intoxicated and said something to the effect of “I understand why your old boyfriend put his hands on you. I’m having a hard time not putting my hands on you now.”
That’s when the incident became physical and Ball reportedly threw Petrakis across the hotel room, injuring her right shin on a wooden table. He was charged with substantial assault due to her injuries.
