An award winning journalist, Jake Zimmermann has been Sports Director of The Zone 106.7 FM, 1670 AM since September of 2014. You may remember him as the longtime sports director at WKOW-TV Channel 27 in Madison where he worked from 1999-2013. You can hear Jake Thursday nights from 6-7 as host of the Wisconsin Basketball Roundtable with former Badger basketball players Mike Kelley, Charlie Wills and Mike Bruesewitz. He also hosts the Wisconsin Football Roundtable during the college football season with former Badgers Jim Sorgi, Brooks Bollinger and Brandon Williams. You can hear Jake daily providing Madison’s most up-to-the-minute sports updates. Jake also reports from the road covering the Badger football & basketball team, Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, Milwaukee Bucks and WIAA events.
Jake began his sports broadcasting career in 1996 at WJFW-TV in Rhinelander, hired as a television sports reporter two weeks before he graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelors degree in Journalism.
After nearly two years in Rhinelander, Jake spent a year at KRDO-TV in Colorado Springs, Colorado before coming to WKOW-TV. Jake continues to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps. Carl Zimmermann, known as the Dean of Milwaukee news, spent 27 years as the main anchor at Channel 6 WITI-TV.
With 20 years of experience, Jake has covered The Super Bowl, NCAA men’s basketball tournaments, MLB playoffs, and multiple Packers, Badgers, Brewers, Bucks and WIAA state high school events.
Jake grew up in nearby Poynette. He enjoys spending time with his two daughters Jenna and Rachael, his stepchildren Zoe and Ashton, his wife Teresa (who he also works with at Mid West Family), and their dog Bentley.
