Wisconsin Bike Week is a time to celebrate all things BICYCLING! There are dozens of events throughout the state, including a whole bunch right here in the Madison area! There’s something for everyone…ranging from Ride the Drive…to a Women’s Cycling Social…and the Blessing of the Bikes. Wisconsin Bike Week is June 6 | 13, here’s just a taste of some of the Madison area events associated with bike week…
Bonus Bratcakes! | Friday, June 5 (yeah, I know Bike Week starts on Saturday | that’s why this is a “bonus”) a fun community commute from the Saris world headquarters to the State Capital. Start with breakfast at Saris from 7 ’til 8, and then ride the Southwest Communter Path to the Capital at a very casual pace.
Everyone Can Ride | Sunday, June 7. A great opportunity for people with visual impairments to experience the thrill of riding a bicycle on the back of a tandem bike, with an experienced captain on the front. The ride leaves from the Wisconsin Council of the Blind and Visually Impaired (754 Williamson St.) at 9am
Ride the Drive | Sunday, June 7. A car-free, care-free day that turns some of Madison’s signature streets into a public promenade open to cyclists, walkers or rollerbladers. There’s plenty of fun for the whole family, including live music from Modern Mod, Sam Lyons, Nfusion and Matt DeBlass! There’s more information on the Ride the Drive web-site.
Blessing of the Bikes | Sunday, June 7. Interfaith leaders will lead a blessing of the bikes, bringing the popular event from Vermont Luthern Church to Ride the Drive! The blessing happens at 11:30am, followed by a group ride!
Bike Week Commuter Stations | Commuter stations will be open along popular Madison commuter routes throughout Bike Week. Learn more about where and when the stations will be open on the Bike Week page at the Wisconsin Bike Fed website.
Women’s Cycling Social | Monday, June 8. A great way to meet new riding partners and learn more about cycling with clinics, yoga, free bike checks, information on local rides and clubs, raffle prizes, refreshments and more! Brittingham Park, 6-8pm.
Capital Brewery Bike Fed Red Launch Party! Tuesday, June 9. Join in the regular Capital Brewery Bike Club Ride at 5:45pm and then stick around after the ride for a pint of Bike Fed Red!
Family Fun Ride | Thursday, June 11 at Vilas Park! Ride through the Arboretum or enjoy a shorter loop with the kids! 5 | 7:30pm
Bike Week Celebration Party! Friday, June 12 at Olin Park, 5-8pm. It’s the end fo the week, family friendly party with New Belgium Beer, treats from Whole Foods, pizza from local vendors and music from Saturn’s 8 Entertainment!
